The blue minaret or the Kalta Minor is considered a symbol of the city of Khiva.
It is located at the entrance to the Muhammad Amin Khan School and behind the “Egan Castle”.
Kalta Minor means the short minaret and is also known as the blue minaret.
The construction of the minaret was not completed, and its height was limited to 29 meters instead of 80 meters.
Its base diameter is 14.2 metres.
Work on it began in the early fifties of the nineteenth century, and stopped with the killing of Muhammad Amin Khan in 1855 AD, and he was the ruler who ordered its construction.
Its decorative belts are characterized by ceramic glazes and Andalusian majolica ceramics
